Pet and Urine smell :(
« on: August 29, 2017, 07:10:41 AM »
We just bought a fixer-upper in Toronto, that was previously owned by a family with 2 large dogs. Most of the supplies and returns were matted with dog hair and several other supplies were used as urinals. The furnace filter looked rotten and the blower looks to have some accumulation of dust, but not terrible. The coil also seems to be fine.
We cleaned the cold air returns but the system is still producing a nasty dander/urine smell. Within no time I will be replacing the supply coops. Should I do the same with supply ducts also? I don't think spraying a deodorizer will keep the smell out. Another option I consider is to clean both the blower and coil. Please tell me your suggestions.
It's a 40 feet rigid duct and it won't be easy for me to do it myself. So I'm considering to consult a duct cleaning service. Thank you for any suggestion in advance.
