I'd love to purchase a "fixer-upper" and fit it with anything I like. Aside from the stress of it all, my main problem is that I don't even know where to begin.

What would be your top tips for house renovation?

If you've never done it before, don't throw yourself in at the deep end. If you're looking to buy a house, do it up and sell it, try one that doesn't need a complete overhaul first. A house that's been derelict for many years, or suffered something like a house fire is a recipe for disaster to somebody with little experience in renovation. They're great further down the line, but for now, stick to the basics!
